Testimony in What God Blocked
“The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” — Psalm 121:7-8 (NIV)
When we think about testimonies, we often focus on the things God has given us—blessings, opportunities, healing, and provision. But sometimes, the greatest testimony isn’t in what God provided; it’s in what He blocked.
There are dangers seen and unseen that God has shielded us from. Doors we wanted to walk through that He kept shut for our good. Relationships He removed that would have caused us harm. Situations we thought were setbacks, but in reality, they were divine setups for something greater.
Consider Joseph—he may have been confused when he was thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, and imprisoned. But God was blocking him from staying in a place of mediocrity. He was positioning Joseph for something bigger. Had he stayed comfortable in his father’s house, he wouldn’t have ruled in Pharaoh’s palace.
Or think about the children of Israel. They may have seen their journey through the wilderness as a delay, but God was blocking them from enemies they weren’t ready to face (Exodus 13:17-18). What looked like a detour was really divine protection.
Today, take a moment to thank God—not just for what He has given, but for what He has blocked. The accident that didn’t happen. The job you didn’t get that would have drained you. The relationship that ended before it destroyed you. The opportunity that seemed perfect but would have pulled you away from your purpose.
God’s ‘No’ is just as loving as His ‘Yes.’ His rejections are often His redirections. His blockages are sometimes His greatest blessings.
