Be Sober

Romans 12:3 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly…”

So, what does it mean to be sober? It’s the opposite of being drunk. What does being drunk mean? To be intoxicated by outside influence. Are you intoxicated by an outside influence? Because, whether you had a drink or not, according to God, you are drunk when you allow outside things to influence how you are inside. You are not sober, you are intoxicated. You are intoxicated by your own pain, by your own past, by your own beauty, whatever it is that’s affecting your feelings, and affecting your attitude that’s comin’ from the outside has got you drunk.

Today, say to yourself, “Sober up! I’m not allowing outside influences to affect my thinking nor my behavior.” In order to live with joy you have to be sober.
